Shipping Restrictions
When shipping to The United Arab Emirates it is important to consider the various shipping restrictions and prohibitions to ensure that your parcel reaches its intended destination. There are strict restrictions in force, so take care when sending a package to a friend or relative in the United Arab Emirates. Both non-infectious and infectious perishable biological substances are prohibited under the country mailing conditions, as are aerosol products and butane gas lighters and refills. Radioactive materials are prohibited.
It is not permitted to import firearms, ammunition and all their components into the United Arab Emirates. Personal parcels with a value not exceeding 500 dirhams are generally exempt from all customs measures. However parcels that exceed 500 dirhams in value, and commercial shipments must be accompanied by four things; the original invoices authenticated by the Consulates of the UAE, authenticated certificate of origin, list of the contents of the parcel and if applicable, the certification of exemption from duty tax.
Radio transmitters and receivers are prohibited except under a specific permit, and pork products are also prohibited under the UAE country mailing conditions. Polished, whitened, artificial or imitation pearls are prohibited as are gold, jewels, platinum, precious stones and silver. Precious stones and various other pieces of jewellery may be permitted if they are in insured parcels, but it is best to check with your local Customer Service Advisor as to the specific requirements of any parcels you wish to send over to the UAE.
Those wishing to send medication or medicines must receive prior authorisation before sending it to the UAE, and all materials and printed matter that is offensive to Arabs and Muslims is prohibited under the United Arab Emirates country mailing conditions.
