Shipping Restrictions
Before sending any parcel domestically or internationally,
it's important to check what can and cannot be handled by the respective postal
service and courier firms. While there are similarities between each country's
list of prohibited items, many countries also have a few unusual items than can
innocently find their way into packages if the sender does not know any better!
It's always worth double checking the official site of your
parcel's destination, to make sure that it reaches its intended recipient
safely and quickly, without being seized or destroyed by customs.
Like many countries, Romania's prohibited goods list includes animal products, precious metals and stones (including pearls), chemical products and anything explosive or flammable. You are also not permitted to send printed articles (newspapers, books, manuscripts etc.), any tobacco or imitation tobacco products, or beverages, alcohol or vinegar.
There are restrictions on many more items, such as hides, fur and leather; works of art and food products. Pharmaceuticals including medicines and veterinary products are also restricted without the appropriate authorisation, which is generally explicit permission granted by the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Agriculture.
