Shipping Restrictions
Most countries do not allow radioactive materials, arms, ammunition and other forms of military equipment through customs and the same can be said for Latvia. Valuable items including coins, banknotes and currencies, traveller's cheques, gold, silver and platinum are all prohibited in Latvia as are explosives and other combustible items. Raw animal materials and live animals other than bees and leeches are also forbidden. All narcotics are banned from shipping as well as perishable biological substances including plants and seeds that are both infectious and non-infectious. Publications that could be perceived as being potentially harmful to children and younger people are also prohibited.
Animal products must be accompanied with a veterinary service certificate before being shipped, though this does not apply for canned foods. Medicines cannot be sent to Latvian residents and can only be sent to pharmaceutical manufacturers or other representatives of businesses in Latvia who are associated with medicine. A shippers invoice and certificate are required to accompany pharmaceutical products.
