Shipping Restrictions

Make sure that you check what is and is not allowed to be sent to Brazil through the mail before you seal your parcel. Like most other countries, there is an extensive and detailed list of prohibited and restricted items, and consignments suspected or found to be containing any of these will be delayed, withheld and possibly destroyed. To avoid issues with customs officials, check the latest information on the Brail Post Office website or the Universal Postal Union and ensure that you and your recipient have any required certificates or approvals in place.

Some examples of prohibited items include currency, precious metals, weapons and firearms and unlicensed medicines - all of which are fairly typical on such a list. Less common items that are not allowed into the country via the postal service are playing cards, smoking paraphernalia and early-learning books in languages other than Portuguese.

If you wish to send produce containing saccharine (or sachets of saccharine), you may need specific permission. Likewise, postage stamps, prescription medicines, animal skins (including hide and leather), and any products made from wood will need authorisation before sending.
